Am I too old to learn computer skills?
You're never too old. We run courses specifically aimed at older people, designed to make your learning fun and relevant. Our trainers will match the pace of the training to your needs.
What are these pick and mix courses?
Explore IT is a series of beginner, intermediate and advanced training courses designed specifically for people who have little or no knowledge of a computer. They are run as a six week programme and you can progress up through three levels. The levels are called starter, main course and dessert and you will be helped along at every stage by our team of experienced and friendly trainers as well as two virtual characters, Roy and Dorothy who have written their own manuals to help you learn with them. Training can take place at Ridgeway House or at a venue of your choice and the Explore IT series is designed to match learning with a hobby or interest (like gardening, first aid, wine tasting). What if I have a disability?
Project COSMIC will make every effort to assess the level of your disability and find suitable aids to help you in your learning. More of these aids are available for training within our Technology centre, but we can also offer some other aids for use in mobile training

Keep an eye on the Training Programme and Programme News sections, which will keep an up to date schedule of our up and coming visits.
Can I get internet training on a mobile training visit?
Yes. We have a wireless network, that can access a number of machines onto the Internet at any one time. All that is required when we are visiting a location of your choice is a telephone point. However, we have an even more advanced service now available for large training deliveries and on board the space shuttle. We have a high speed two way satellite Internet connection, which is very successful at accessing online services.
