IT's NEET - www.itsneet.org.uk
IT’s NEET uses IT to engage with young people aged 16-18 within the
NEET group who can be motivated through the delivery of multi-media training
in order to gain a different perspective on work opportunities and how their
use of IT can improve their career prospects.
A training allowance of £30 per week will be provided.
What is NEET?
NEET is a term that refers to a distinct group of young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training.
Project Delivery
IT’s NEET will aim to offer a wide range of workshops, within a menu for young people to chose from, offering a wide choice and learning plan which is flexible and informal enough for them to feel in control of their own direction.
Some of the exciting sessions young people can choose from include:
- Computer Maintenance
- Website Design
- Computer Animation
- Graphic Design
- Digital Sound
- Video Editing
- Microsoft Applications
As well as learning the skills, young people will get the opportunity to visit local businesses to see how rewarding and exciting a career in IT can really be! Through the ever-developing nature of IT, flexible-working practices such as teleworking and video conferencing means that a career in IT doesn’t necessary mean working 9-5 in a booth entering data.
At the end of the project young people will have a greater confidence in the use of IT as well as a fantastic portfolio of work, including digital CV that will make any employer or training provider sit up and take notice.
The project will run to December 2006. If you would like to know more contact Tim Schofield, Training manager, on 01404 813226, or email: info@itsneet.org.uk. To visit the IT's NEET website, go to www.itsneet.org.uk.
